Successful Club Accreditation for Badminton

Friday 10 June 2011

Whitley Bay Badminton Club and North Tyneside Badminton Academy have successfully achieved Premier Club status.

Whitley Bay Badminton Club and North Tyneside Badminton Academy (NTBA) are celebrating both clubs achieving Premier Club status. Whitley Bay BC first achieved Premier Club status in 2007 being the first club on North Tyneside to achieve the status. The two clubs have been working together for several years providing a clear pathway from juniors at the Academy into the senior badminton club at Whitley Bay.

With Premier Club status being renewed every four years, Whitley Bay’s reaccreditation provided an excellent opportunity for both clubs to work together to achieve Premier Club status. The senior club, which plays on a Monday and Friday evening at John Spence Community High School has been reaping the benefits of the link with the Academy.

Derek Brown, Treasurer for Whitley Bay BC commented, "I am delighted to see the links between the two clubs grow and its particularly encouraging to see the junior players moving into the senior club and regularly competing alongside the adults."

Pamela Ferguson, Treasurer for NTBA added "Achieving Premier Club status has given the club something to work towards, now we have achieved this we are looking to grow the club further. We’re looking to enter the newly established Northumberland Junior Badminton League and expand the number of sessions and players we have."
