North Tyneside Schools Celebrate Rugby League Festival

Over 200 primary school children enjoyed an afternoon playing Rugby League as Whitley Bay Barbarians hosted an event to try and get more youngsters involved in the sport.

Over 200 primary school children enjoyed an afternoon playing Rugby League as Whitley Bay Barbarians hosted an event to try and get more youngsters involved in the sport.

17 teams entered the festival, which was watched by representatives from the Rugby Football League, Gateshead Thunder and even the Irish International side.

Whitehouse Reds and Shiremoor were the victors on the day, winning the years 3 & 4 and years 5 & 6 competitions respectively.

All participants on the day were awarded with Gateshead Thunder Community Vouchers which entitle one adult and one child to attend Thunder's match against Doncaster in April for just £5.
