Newcastle United legend Peter Beardsley will kick-off the official opening of a new all weather pitch in North Tyneside.
On Wednesday 4 November, at 9.15am, the former England striker will be unveiling the specially designed sports facility at St Peter's C of E Primary School, in Wallsend.
The 'TigerTurf', which is specifically designed for sports surfaces, has been used for the school's new 7-a-side football pitch.
Pupils worked with the school council to help plan the layout of the turf and choose the colours.
Paul Rickeard, Headteacher at St Peter's C of E Primary School, said: "It's an honour to have Peter Beardsley come to our school and open our fantastic new sports facility.
"Because we are fenced in by a number of different buildings, in the past it has been difficult for us to create a suitable outdoor sports area for our pupils.
"Parents have all been desperate for a place where their children can play - but now they have it.
"Thanks to the synthetic turf, we have been able to construct an area, along with a running track and a tennis court, that does the job perfectly.
"Our new first-rate facility is certainly going to help our pupils stay fit and healthy, whilst also having fun."
Dylan Griffiths, Marketing Manager for TigerTurf, said: "At St Peter's Primary School we have installed our TigerTurf Life concept, which helps teachers, coaches and parents keep children safe and happy.
"The colourful textured surface helps deliver the curriculum whilst renewing the passion for outdoor learning and sport."
