Sport North Tyneside is governed through the Widening Horizons 4 Sport programme. Sport North Tyneside seeks to provide and promote opportunities available for people to participate in sport for:

- Athletes to reach their sporting potential and progress to their chosen level
- Competitions and leagues
Sport North Tyneside is working to establish and develop the infrastructure of clubs, facilities, volunteers, coaches, officials, events and leagues within North Tyneside.
Our aims are to
- Increase participation in sport and physical activity
- Increase the number of local volunteers, coaches and officials
- Develop sport and physical activity opportunities in identified priority areas
- Provide advice and support to sports clubs/organisations
- Promote and encourage active and healthy lifestyles for all our residents
- Develop local facilities such as community and recreation centres for sport and physical activity use
- Deliver national and regional sporting initiatives.
